Baseball splits with Central Oklahoma

The Emporia State baseball team split a weekend series with Central Oklahoma. The Hornets lost their MIAA home opener in a very offensive 16-17 loss to the Bronchos.

The Hornets gave up the lead in the seventh after giving up seven runs and fell in the ninth inning, leaving a man stranded on second. There were 38 combined hits in the game.

ESU bounced back Saturday, winning the first game of the doubleheader 5-0. Here, the Hornets had three runs in the first inning. After shutting out the Bronchos, the Hornets were then shut out in the night cap, falling 2-0 to UCO.

The Hornets came from behind with a win on Sunday, taking the Bronchos 5-3 in the final game of the series. Emporia posted four runs in the seventh.

The win improved the Hornets overall record to 5-3 overall and 2-2 MIAA. The next game against Pittsburg State has been rescheduled to today, due to weather.
