Henrie named interim registrar

Emporia State’s financial aid director has been named interim registrar while the administration gears up for national search to replace former registrar Jill Megredy.

Elaine Henrie, financial aid director, was named to the interim position April 11. The announcement was made in a university-wide email message. No reference was made to why the appointment was necessary.

Jim Williams, vice president for strategic partnerships and student life, declined to comment on Megredy’s employment status, saying it was “a personnel issue.”

“Elaine Henrie is working with the staff as interim registrar,” Williams said. “She will be working with the staff gaining an overview of the operations.”

Williams said he does not yet know of the specific date for the national search to fill the position of registrar to begin.

“We will begin creating a job description that meets the needs of ESU,” he said. “I look for the search to begin shortly after this.”

Henrie, who will also maintain her position as student financial aid director, did not respond to a request for comment on Megredy’s status.

Megredy did not return phone messages left on her home phone or reply to emails sent to her university account.

The Bulletin has filed an Open Records request with human resources for Megredy’s employment contract and her most recent day at work.

She still is working in TCS. Good move on ESU new staff might mean better service. ESU did something right.
Who's working in TCS? Jill formerly worked as Registrar in the Registration Office and Elaine works in Financial Aid....nowhere did the article mention anyone working for Technology & Computing Services (TCS)??
I wonder why Megredy left... I had a quite unfriendly interaction with her, and I'm curious if interactions such as this might be part of the reason for her leaving.
I bet they did because I also had more than unfriendly interactions...she was downright RUDE and not willing to help students or even listen.
