ESU to host annual Family Day events
Emporia State’s Family Day will take place September 6 and there will be eight activities that individuals can attend throughout the day.
The first activity of the day is the Great American Market which will last from 7 a.m. - 4p.m. and consist of businesses and individuals from the community who set up stands along Commercial Street for people to visit.
The Fun Run two-mile walk/run will start in Union Square at 9 a.m. All the money raised at the event will go to the American Red Cross.
From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., the Physical Science building will be open for parents and students to view the museums and other displays located in the building.
The Pass, Catch and Kick Contest will be from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the practice field by the Student Recreation Center. Although the contest has been taking place throughout the week, the event finals will be held on Saturday and will consist of three-person teams that have to do different activities with a football.
From 10a.m.-12:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the Student Recreation Center, the Black Hole will be hosting tailgating activities, including games and refreshments.
Lunch will be available from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the MU Webb Lecture Hall. The event is free for students and every new ESU student will receive two free tickets. While students and parents are eating, they can listen to live music from singer/songwriter Shevy Smith, who has an acoustic country sound.
The ESU football game against Augustana (S.D.) will begin at 1 p.m. in Welch Stadium.
The ESU International Food Festival will start at 4 p.m. in the MU Hornet’s Nest after the game. All ESU students and their family members are encouraged to attend Saturday’s events.
