Women’s basketball to compete in season opening exhibition at KSU

The Emporia State Women’s basketball team will play an exhibition game against the Kansas State Wildcats Tomorrow in Manhattan, Kansas.

The Lady Hornets are ranked 15 in the nation coming into this preseason match against a tough division one team.

“The purpose in this game is to play a very high level of competition,” said Brandon Schneider, ESU head women’s Basketball coach. “Find out a few things that we do well. Also find where we need to find some improvement.”

Last time these two teams met in preseason play the Hornets came out on top.

“Knowing that we have beaten them before, we can do it again as long as we block them out we have a good chance of beating them,” said Cassondra Boston, junior guard.

With the heavy match up on Friday the Hornets are pleased to have about everyone back on their roster.

“It helps a ton we don’t have to stop and talk about this and that,” said Sophia Lenard, junior guard. “It helps when everyone knows what is going on.”

The Hornets come into this game with a tough match up ahead of them.

“It will be nice for us to play hard,” said Lenard. “There are going to be mistakes but as long as we play hard we should be alright.”

This will be the first challenge for the Hornets of the year.

“We are ready to play against somebody else other than playing each other at practice,” Boston said.

The Hornets will play against the Wildcats at 7 p.m. Friday in Manhattan.
