Nyk Robertson, Senior Diversity Officer and Assistant Dean (Left), and Cale Bolen, Basic Needs Coordinator (Right) are seen cutting the grand opening ribbon of Corkys Cupboard on Feb. 16.
The new and expanded Corky’s Cupboard was officially unveiled at its grand opening at 3 p.m. on Feb. 16th. The food pantry is now located on the lower level of the Memorial Union in room 007.
Corky’s Cupboard has grown over time in space, the products it provides, and how much it can provide. The new space, which took three months to finish, will provide Corky’s Cupboard with more space to store products for students.
According to Basic Needs Coordinator Cale Bolan this is the first year that the University has financially supported Corky’s Cupboard. In the past, they have been solely reliant on private donations. Corky’s Cupboard is now supported by both of these funding sources, allowing them to purchase better and more nutritious foods for students.
