The Christian Student Center, located at 1503 Merchant St., was recently demolished to make way for the growth of CrossWinds Counseling & Wellness in Emporia. The CrossWinds Administrative Office is currently housed next to the site in the old Chi Omega sorority house at1519 Merchant St. 

According to Sibyl Hammond, a Customer Support Specialist at CrossWinds, the property was purchased to make room for a new parking lot. 

Over the past few years, CrossWinds has employed over 230 staff, as per CrossWinds’s Development and Logistics Director Lucas Moody. He said that last year, their service grew by 27%.

“Parking will be for employees, consumers, and community members who are taking advantage of our many training opportunities,” Moody stated. “​​We are excited to have found the space to help us grow and be surrounded by such great neighbors.”

The Christian Student Center was a ministry of the Emporia Church of Christ. They did not respond to request for an interview.
