Emporia State Police and Safety does not suspect foul play in the unattended death of an individual whose body was found in the tunnel under Interstate 35 early Monday morning.
According to a press release from ESU Police and Safety, officers received a report at 7:04 a.m. of a suspicious person or medical emergency in the tunnel under Interstate 35 at the north end of ESU. ESU police, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, and Emporia Fire and EMS responded to the report. At the scene, authorities discovered an unattended death.
The identity of the individual has not been released nor have the circumstances surrounding the individual’s death.
“ESU police are in charge of the investigation and will release no further information,” the release said.
