Alijah Comithier of the Emporia State men’s basketball team was named on the Bevo Francis Top 100 Award Watch List on Jan. 15. This award is given each year to a player with the finest overall season within Small College Basketball.
The Bevo Francis award will be given across multiple divisions including DII-III, NAIA, USCAA I-II, and NCCAA DI-II. The top 50 players will be announced on Feb. 15, followed by the top 25 on March 15.
Comithier has been a vital addition to the Emporia State men’s basketball team since transferring to ESU for his junior year and the 2022-2023 season. So far this season, Comithier has contributed a total of 325 points, 20 steals, and 11 blocks. He also holds an individual game high with a total of 10 assists and ties Atavian Butler for total free throws made in a single game with nine.
During the 2022-2023 season, Comithier racked up a total of 466 points throughout the season and averaged 14.6 points per game. Comithier also helped the Hornets to a MIAA semifinals run and a final record of 23-9.
Before transferring to Emporia State, Comithier played two years at UC Colorado Springs. Throughout his two years at Colorado Springs, he was named First Team All-RMAC and received a RMAC Offensive Player of the Week award. Comithier also held a top ten spot for average points in UCCS conference with an average of 19.1 points per game.
