
Emporia State Women’s Basketball took their first win of the season against Bellevue University, with a score of 66-57.
Emporia State Women’s Basketball defeated Bellevue University on Nov. 18, securing the team’s first win of the season.
The game started with intensity as the Bellevue University Bruins scored the first five points. The Lady Hornets caught up, wrapping up the first quarter with a tie. As the second quarter unraveled, Emporia gained the lead thanks to forward Faith Paramore.
Bellevue momentarily took the lead in the second quarter, but not before Paramore brought the Hornets to a 32-24 lead just before the buzzer rang.
As the third quarter rolled along, guard Gracie Gilpin hit a three-pointer and raised the Hornets’ lead to 40-27. While the Bruins managed seven more points, forward Queen Ulabo was fouled and scored two free throws, bringing the score to 47-38.
Ulabo scored 21 points and claimed ten rebounds. Paramore scored 13 points in the game and forward Allie Ostermann scored 12 on four three pointers. Center Tylieea Wallace scored ten points.
The Lady Hornets will face off against Washburn University on Dec. 2 in White Auditorium. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m.
