ZOIKS! Improv Comedy presented ‘[REDACTED] on Nov. 17th in Fredrickson Black Box Theatre.
ZOIKS! Improv opened their season with “Redacted” on Nov. 17 at the Black Box Theatre in Roosevelt Hall.
ZOIKS! Improv is an improv group composed of ESU students who follow the motto of “making it up as we go.” Members practice every week and present their work at campus events all year round.
ZOIKS! encompasses a cast of 12 permanent actors and their shows consist of multiple segments where important story details like locations and occupations are asked of the audience. These segments are all improvised on the spot and are fast-paced to keep the audience engaged.
Artistic Director Logan Trask is in his fifth semester with ZOIKS! and is “happy with the turnout” for “Redacted.” Every time the show is at the Black Box Theatre the crowd is “nice and compact where everyone is closer together,” Trask said.
ZOIKS! has occasionally shared the stage with touring bands like Second City, Ha Ha Tonka, and other performers. Their next show will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1 at the Black Box Theatre.
