Every school year, there is a really big blockbuster movie that comes out, and thanks to our friends of the Union Activities Council, the premiere tickets are made cheaper to us. This school year, the big blockbuster movie chosen is related to the movie selected last year, which was “Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.”
“Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” will be coming out tomorrow, and unfortunately, I will not be able to give you all my exclusive review, but man have I read some bad things about this final installment from reviewers.
I don’t normally pay too much attention to other reviews because I feel as if they’re a bit biased at times, but after watching “Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1,” I just have low expectations for the film in general.
Besides the fact that the producers only made part one to squeeze money out of their rather large fan base, “Mockingjay Part 1” had a few elements of the flare represented on the posters used to advertise it. Jennifer Lawrence singing as Katniss Everdeen was about the only worthwhile element of the entire film, and that’s coming from someone that genuinely appreciates the themes that “Hunger Games” author, Suzanne Collins, was trying to emulate throughout the entire series.
The idea of bringing down Big Brother, or in the case of the “Hunger Games” series, President Snow, really astounds me. I’m not sure if the films have been doing the books complete justice. I say this because as of right now, if I were to suggest the “Hunger Games” films to a friend, I would also tell them to only watch the first two, and that my favorite was “Catching Fire.”
“Mockingjay Part 2” may actually be really worth seeing, and those reviewers for “The New York Times,” “USA Today” and the likes are probably just trying to get clicks. The film is expected to be way more action-packed than its predecessor, and I really just want to see President Snow finally be taken down from his high-horse by Katniss.
Either way, I’m going to go see it because I don’t like starting something and not finishing. And I suggest those of us who have followed Katniss Everdeen’s story thus far to do the same.
