From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m this Thursday, September 10th, Emporia State Career Services will host employers from all across the region and potential Hornet graduates for a Career Fair in Webb Hall of the Memorial Union.
Among the 54 employers attending are Koch Industries, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, BNSF Railway, Con-way Freight, Freightquote, Phillips 66 and Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation.
In addition, four different law enforcement departments will be in attendance, as well as three of the four military branches (U.S. Army will not be in attendance).
Among the tips that Career Services recommend are to research the employers attending, bring updated copies of your resume, invest in professional attire, practice mock interviews and to work on an “elevator speech”. An elevator speech is approximately 30 seconds, and should accomplish successfully introducing yourself to an employer, as well as leaving an impression on them. In the hiring process, often times a strong first impression is everything, and practice can aid tremendously in making one.
In the Spet. 10 issue of The Bulletin, a brief titled ‘Fall Career Fair’ stated that there were four branches of military. This is incorrect as there are five U.S. military branches: US military branches: US Coast Guard, US Army, US Navy, US Air Force and US Marines.
