Dear Editor of the ESU Bulletin,
This letter is to address the article that was written in the ESU Bulletin on 09-10-2015 regarding Kansas Children’s Service League (KCSL) and the PRIDE organization.
I truly apologize for this misunderstanding that has led the ESU community to believe that KCSL discriminates and holds judgment over people and lifestyles. This is certainly not true and not acceptable. KCSL is proud to work with families and individuals of all backgrounds.
I have spoken with Dr. Rowley and have apologized for this misunderstanding. I have offered to come and talk to any student organization that would like to learn more about KCSL and the wonderful programming that we have to support children and families.
I am very proud of my alma mater, ESU, and I value the partnership and contributions made by ESU, ESU Students, faculty and staff to our community. I’m glad that ESU students have an interest in the betterment of their community and are taking time to give back to those in need. What a wonderful example PRIDE, SAFE, Sociology Cub and others are setting for ESU and the rest of the state through volunteerism. Again, I personally welcome any organization that would like to help KCSL prevent child abuse, strengthen families and empower parent and youth in Kansas to contact me. I want to keep the liens of communication open. When groups communicate directly with each other and work together, it is amazing what can be accomplished!
Respectfully,
Beverly Long, Program Development Manager and Supervisor
