Addie Lackey, junior guard, had a career-high 24 points in #7 Emporia State’s 84-77 win at Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Missouri last Saturday.
The Hornets led 43-34 at the half but were outscored 22-17 in the third quarter as the Bearcats fought back into the game. SBU came within a point at 65-64 with 7:10 left before Kyrstie Miller, junior guard, hit a three-pointer to put the Lady Hornets back up by four.
While Emporia State was holding a 68-66 lead, Morgan Laudan, freshman forward, scored six straight points for the Hornets to start an 11-2 run. Emporia State went on to hit five of eight free throws in the final 1:23 to take the victory.
Lackey went nine of 14 on the night to lead six Hornets in double figures. Miller and Kathryn Flott, senior forward, both had double-doubles. Flott ended with 12 points and a career high 17 rebounds while Miller had 11 points and ten boards. Kelly Moten, senior guard, scored 12 points, Lauden 11, and Jessica Wayne, freshman guard, had ten.
The #7 Lady Hornets will return to White Auditorium this Saturday to host the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
