The Emporia State volleyball team took two wins Oct. 13 and 14 at home against Missouri Southern State University and Southwest Baptist University.
The Lady Hornets won in four sets over Missouri Southern Friday.
The first set saw six ties and two lead changes, but ended with a Hornets win, 25-23. The Hornets controlled the second set as well, finishing the set with a win of 25-11.
Missouri Southern opened the third set strong and won 19-25.
During the fourth set, the Hornets won the final 25-23.
The following day, the Hornets added another win to their record against Southwest Baptist University.
In the first set of the match, there were four ties and four lead changes. Southwest Baptist took the win 22-25.
The Hornets took control in the second set, and ESU won the match 25-7. Set three was also taken by the Hornets, 25-14.
In the fourth and final set of the day, the Hornets controlled the court. ESU started the set with an 8-0 lead, and kept the lead, winning the final set.
Junior middle hitter Tatum Graves led the team in kills with 31 total for the weekend. She was followed by freshman setter Yuchen Du with 20 kills on the weekend.
Emma Dixon, sophomore setter, led the team with 50 total assists on the weekend, while Du recorded 40.
Sophomore defensive specialist Allie Maloney led all players with 32 digs for the weekend, followed by Du with 15. Du recorded her sixth triple double of the season with her 11 kills, 23 assists and 15 digs. She is tied for second in the NCAA in triple doubles on the season.
ESU will travel to play at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 in St. Joseph, Missouri as they take on Missouri Western.
