Emporia State students gather for the annual homecoming bonfire on Oct. 18. During the bonfire the annual “Yell like Hell” competition took place. The winner of the competition was Chi Omega.
“There’s a lot happening (at the bonfire),” said Payton Bolte, freshman psychology major. “We’re gonna yell like hell and Sigma is gonna win.”
“I feel that events like this are important because it brings out the student body,” said Casey Dunkin, sophomore marketing major and UAC member. “It shows your school spirit, and who doesn’t love a bonfire?”
Members of the school and community attended the event to witness the band, dance team, cheerleaders and homecoming royalty that were in attendance.
“(The bonfire) is pretty cool,” said Kassidy Selby freshman nursing major. “(As a freshman,) I wanted to see what it was all about.”
