Dr. George Arasimowicz is currently the dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. He has been chosen to serve as the next Provost and Vice president for Academic Affairs at ESU.
Emporia State’s provost was announced as acting president by the Kansas Board of Regents Tuesday morning. KBOR will discuss the interim president at a later meeting.
George Arasimowicz, provost, will be the acting president starting Oct. 16, following Allison Garrett’s last day on Oct. 15. Arasimowicz was just hired in the Spring to replace the former provost, David Cordle, after his retirement.
“George has been able to accomplish a lot in the short time he has been at Emporia State University and will do a great job as Acting President until an interim can be named,” said Garrett in the email to campus. “ESU has tremendous momentum and is positioned to attract excellent candidates to serve as the next president.”
Before coming to ESU, Arasimowicz worked at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio as their dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
“The Regents are thankful that Dr. Arasimowicz is willing to serve as acting president,” said Cheryl Harrison-Lee, KBOR chair. “He has a depth of experience that will serve him well in this role. The Board anticipates discussing next steps in the search for the next president of Emporia State at upcoming Board meetings.”
