Emporia State’s President, Allison Garrett, is preparing to leave ESU for a new position in Oklahoma next month.
Garrett announced today that she will be taking the position of chancellor and chief executive officer for the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education. Her last day at ESU will be Oct. 15.
The Kansas Board of Regents will announce who the interim president will be and their next steps in the coming weeks, according to a press release sent out Friday afternoon from KBOR.
In her email sent out to students, faculty and staff, Garrett thanked the ESU community and stated she will take what she has learned with her to Oklahoma.
“When I look back on my time at Emporia State University, I am incredibly proud of what we have been able to accomplish for our students and the university. ESU is poised to grow in new ways which makes it an exciting time on campus,” said Garrett in the press release. “Every accomplishment is thanks to the incredibly talented team at ESU and our wonderful students. As Chip and I move on to serve in Oklahoma, we will dearly miss the students, colleagues, alumni, friends and Emporia community. I will also miss friends and colleagues from the Kansas Board of Regents and ESU’s sister institutions.”
