ESU men’s tennis, which is ranked 40 in the nation, fell to No. 16 Southwest Baptist last Saturday at home.
In the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches, Southwest Baptist took the win. During the No. 3 doubles match freshman Taylor Nelson and freshman Janne Jacobi won 8-5.
The Bearcats won the first five singles matches, but freshman Charles Gortzounian ended their winning streak in the final match with a 6-1, 7-6 win.
iThe women’s tennis team was unable to field a full team, so they were forced to forfeit their matches against Southwest Baptist. This resulted in a loss for the Hornets.
The men’s tennis team will be back in action April 3 in Kansas City, Missouri, taking on Rockhurst University. The women’s tennis team will play Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma. They are scheduled to play on Friday, March 30.
