The lady Hornets progressed to the quarterfinals on the road to the MIAA Championships this past Monday, February 26 in White Auditorium. They put up a good fight and rose victorious over their rivals, Northeastern State University, winning the game by ten points, 72-62. Senior, Jacee Kramer also made a name for herself, scoring her career best of 23 points in her final home game.
The Hornets got off to a good start as they took the lead, 10-4 at the start of the game. They continued this progress as they widened their gap to eight points with just 2:23 left in the quarter. The Riverhawks quickly responded as they closed the gap to a simple three point gap, the Hornets still leading at the conclusion of the first quarter, 14-11.
The second quarter seemed detrimental to the Hornets as the Riverhawks took a substantial lead when they went on a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter. However, the Lady Hornets were not far behind as they too took a 10-2 run to take the lead again, 27-25. Going into the locker room the Hornets lead, 34-30.
The Hornets got out to a quick and consistent start as they lead the entirety of the third quarter. The conclusion of the third quarter resulted in a 56-50 lead for the Hornets.
The final quarter was fairly consistent also as the Hornets gained their largest lead of the evening, 72- 60, a 12 point lead. The Riverhawks scored a final two more points before succeeding to the Hornets, winning, 72-62.
