Emporia State fell in a double header to Lindenwood last Friday, where they played two games on the Lions home field in Saint Charles, Missouri.  The women lost the first game 7-1 and then followed with the second game, 17-5.

The first game against the Lions started off slow, with neither team scoring in the first two innings.

During the third inning, the Hornets broke the standstill, scoring the first run of the game. The Lions answered with three runs of their own, pulling ahead of the Hornets 3-1, at the bottom of the third inning.

Lindenwood continued to score throughout the remainder of the game, with one run in the fourth and the fifth innings, and two runs in the sixth. The Hornets never managed a comeback and were held to a single run the entire game. The final score was 7-1, with Lindenwood taking the win.

The second game of the double header started off similarly for the Hornets, without a single run in the first inning. Lindenwood started off strong, holding the Hornets to zero runs, while scoring five of their runs.

The second inning proved more promising for the Hornet offense as they scored three runs right off the bat. Lindenwood quickly answered with eight runs in the bottom of the second.

ESU scored two more runs in the third inning, while Lindenwood scored four to end the game, 17-5.

The Hornets are back in action with a double header against Washburn University this Friday at the Trusler Sports Complex. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
