All From Nothing, a local Emporia band, has recently released a single on the radio and is working to release their first album.
“We are a four piece original rock band based in Emporia, Kansas. Our style is a mix of modern rock, alternative and hard rock spanning from the 1990s to today,” according to the band’s Facebook page.
Their recently released song “Jump” has been airing on radio stations such as mix 104.9 in Emporia, Kansas. They’ve released a music video for this song as well, which can be found on their YouTube channel.
“Honestly, ‘All Time Low’ is my big inspiration,” said Sage Thurston, guitarist in the band and senior percussion performance major.
Their upcoming album, titled “Eyes To The Stars,” will likely be released some time this summer, according to Jeff Kitselmen, singer and Bass player. However, the number of tracks on the album has not been decided upon at this time.
“We’ve got one song so far for an EP that we’ve released called ‘Jump,’” Kitselmen said. “We are in the process of getting back into the studio here in the next couple weeks to put another three songs together.”
Thurston said to create a finished product, the band begins by recording the entire song with just the drums. Then, they add in the guitars, bass and finally vocals, he said.
Kitselmen said he tends to write about personal experiences in his song lyrics as well as behaviors in society. Sometimes he gets a bit political too, he said.
“We have all come together because of music, and that’s really our bond,” Kitselmen said. “We all love doing it, there’s no better feeling than being up on stage, and playing your heart out.”
