Associated Student Government held their first meeting of the spring semester last Thursday in the Senate Chambers in the Memorial Union.
“We have much to look forward to this upcoming semester,” said Megan McReynolds, ASG president and junior political science major. “In case you didn’t know, we actually have our informal meeting for elections coming up.”
This was the 98th session of ASG.
“Additionally, we have allocations coming up this semester,” McReynolds said. “We actually have elections in the first full week of March, so that’s coming up right around the corner. We have our town hall meetings to get some feedback from students still, as well as our What Do You Want Wednesdays.”
McReynolds also discussed the next step for the proposed changes to the non-activity week, which will be shown at the academic affairs committee next week.
“Our second session of All Things RSO is coming up a week from today on Feb. 1 from 5 to 6 p.m.,” said Sawyer Barragan junior, chief of staff and junior Spanish major. “What we did last time was have all the senators introduce themselves, and then hang around afterwards for questions.”
ASG also discussed budgeting of allocations for RSOs, as well as ASG budget and what has been spent. Additionally, they discussed the name change of Black Writers Club to Black Artists Club.
“Emporia State University will celebrate the 155th anniversary of its founding, February 17, 1863 on February 16, 2018,” said Michael Webb, senator and senior business administration major. “The Associated Student Government of Emporia State recognizes the past and present achievements of Emporia State University.”
