The Emporia State women’s soccer team continued their successful season by defeating Lindenwood 1-0 last Friday.
“I think we were very slow, we could have been better,” said Chloe Flynn, junior defender. “We are usually quicker.” Both teams remained scoreless in the first half and both teams took under ten shots on goal the entire match.
With about ten minutes let in the game, Rachel Marshall, freshman midfielder sent an assist to Aislinn Hughes, freshman forward, for a goal to bring the score 1-0.
“It’s hard to stay motivated when the score is 0-0, so we had to keep encouraging each other to keep on pushing,” said Ashlyn Lakin, freshman defender.
The team’s record is now 11-4-1, according to ESU Athletics. “The harmony is very good (with the team) and everyone is supporting each other,” said Antonia Lewentz, freshman goalkeeper. “I really think that our winning streak can continue.”
The Hornets will play tomorrow against Washburn in Topeka, Kansas.
