Corbin Crable, the former treasurer for Kansas Collegiate Media who embezzled $21,000 from the organization, no longer has his position at Baker University as a journalism instructor or adviser to the student publications.
Crable didn’t renew his contract and therefore no longer has a position at Baker, according to the human resources department at Baker University.
It is not clear whether the embezzlement from KCM had a role to play in Crable not taking this position. Additionally, his contract is not subject to open records since Baker is a private institution.
Crable was the former adviser to the Johnson County Community College campus newspaper, “The Ledger,” and was treasurer for KCM for four years.
He has paid KCM back fully and has acknowledged his actions on social media and in an email to all members of KCM in return for no charges being filed, according to Stacy Sparks, president of KCM and associate professor of journalism at Southwestern College.
Crable has not responded to The Bulletin’s repeated requests for interviews.
