The Lady Hornets won by over 10 points last Wednesday over Pitt State, 78- 66. It was their fifth consecutive win and the second game in a row that they’ve had a season high shooting.
Emporia State started off slow as the Gorillas took an early lead, 0-7. However, this deficit did not last long as the Hornets answered with a 7-0 run, tying the game at 18 points.
The second quarter remained close with neither team gaining more than a two point lead. At the end of the half, the Lady Hornets led, 40-38.
During the third quarter, less than a minute out of the locker room, the Hornets widened their lead, 44-38 after two layups by Jacee Kramer, senior guard, and Tiana Moala, junior forward. The Hornets held their lead for the remainder of the quarter, entering the fourth quarter with a 59-52.
Jessica Wayne, sophomore guard, the lead scorer with a total of 14 points, shot two points, widening the lead to the largest gap of the night to nine points.
The Hornets continued to score and took victory over the Gorillas, 78-66.
The Hornets next game will be at 1:30pm Sunday, Jan. 28 at William Allen White Auditorium against Southwest Baptist University.
