The Out of Darkness Walk, a suicide prevention event, will be held on Saturday at 12 p.m. Online registration is open until noon tomorrow, but individuals can register at the walk from the time check-in begins until the race starts at 10 a.m. Donations are accepted until June 30.
Emporia State’s goal was to raise $5,000. ESU has exceeded the goal by over $2,000 and currently has 244 individuals participanting
The walk is hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the ESU Sociology Club.
The event is an opportunity to “bring mental health conditions like depression and anxiety out of the darkness and put a stop to this loss of life,” according to the AFSP’s national website.
Individuals can register with a team or by themselves.
