Emporia State will be holding a luncheon at 12:05 pm this Friday in Webb Hall to celebrate the anniversary of the day the school was founded.
This years theme is “Reflections of the Common Good,” as the luncheon will celebrate all the ways ESU has changed lives during this past year through careers, experiences and education.
The two winners of the $1863 scholarship essay competition will be announced during this luncheon.
To apply, an ESU student had to write an essay between 750 and 1,000 words describing how ESU has changed their lives. The scholarship was sponsored by the President’s Community Advisory Council.
The ESU birthday cake will be cut by President Allison Garrett, Associated Student Government President Janet Weaver and Emporia State Ambassador President Elayna Coleman.
Following the luncheon there will be a bell-ringing ceremony in Beach Hall to thank Elaine Slater for her music scholarships.
