The former Center for Student Involvement will operate under a new name this academic year following a merger with multiple offices to become a central hub for students.
Now operating as Student Life, the office has merged with Career Services and ACES tutoring to become a “one stop shop” for students. The merger aims to simplify existing processes for students by creating a single team to help students be successful, said Jaden Rahe, senior director of the Student Life Office.
“They’re just all interconnected in a sense, because if you’re successful in and out of the classroom, that can also help you in your career and have that career development resume,” Rahe said.
“We can tie in what you’re doing in a student organization into your resume and [make] sure you’re getting the leadership development there. If you’re engaged in class, then you can also be engaged outside of class.”
Students can access all the same career, tutoring and involvement services they have in the past, now just under Student Life. Tutoring appointments can be made through Emporia State’s Navigate portal, and appointments for career help or involvement consulting can be made through Handshake.
“It’s a new office (name), but we’re still here … All the services are here, but we’re really excited to just have the students get to know us a bit better and just help students be successful and fall in love with Emporia State even more,” said Rahe.
