We all have those trends that we either didn’t jump on fast enough, or just aren’t ready to let go despite the changing climate.
For me, high-waisted shorts are something that I’ve loved for years, and since they have finally caught on with more people, today, I have styled three different looks for you.
The first look is a more casual transitioning outfit, almost perfect for the weather we’ve been having lately: brisk in the morning, and mild the rest of the day. I paired a lightweight sweater from Forever 21 with my thrifted blue-jean shorts and white Converse, and added a scarf and some accessories on top for some more interest.
The next outfit is a tad more sleek, for those of you who prefer to dress up more day-to-day. But this could easily be changed up a bit for a going-out outfit! My base for this was a super high-waisted, super blue pair of shorts that were once jeans from GoodWill. I added a neutral crop top and giant cardigan over that–both from Forever 21–as well as a pair of grey tights, which could become an essential for wearing shorts in the upcoming months. The finishing touches to this look were a pair of heeled boots from Maurice’s, red lipstick, and a giant bun.
To end this post, I went with a very grungy sort of outfit, which to me, sort of signifies that it is really, FINALLY, fall! Once again, I have a pair of thrifted high-waisted shorts–these are distressed and an off-black color. For the top, I layered a bleached-out flannel shirt I bought at TJ Maxx over a grey cutoff from ASOS. I added a pair of thick black knit tights to really keep me warm, as well as a beanie (mostly for looks at this time of the year, but in a month it could really help out!). I finished off the look with my Steve Madden spiked-toe ankle boots and an uber dark lip.
Even though I chose high-waisted shorts as my trend to bring into autumn, I challenge you to tote along your open-toe shoes and crop tops as best as you can! Fashion and style are all about expressing yourself, and though the weather must guide us most of the time, we may as well wear the things we love for as long as possible!
