An opportunity to learn about hunting, fishing, and outdoor life, the fifth annual Beau Arndt Outdoor Appreciation Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 28, at Jones Park in Emporia. There will also be lunch and prize drawings for attendants.
In conjunction with Outdoor Appreciation Day, the Beau Arndt Foundation is also holding their second annual 5k run/walk fundraiser, the Beau Arndt Hunt for the Finish. The race begins at 8 a.m., Saturday. Registration is possible either 15 minutes before the race, or by calling Laura Tennal at (620) 481-6471, or Bob Arndt at (620) 794-7475. The cost of registration is $15 for students.
In December 2007 after his first semester at Emporia State, Beau Arndt was killed by a man hunting illegally. Arndt himself was a lover of outdoor activities. The Beau Arndt Foundation’s mission statement is, “helping children and their families enjoy the outdoors safely.”
