The Emporia State Cross Country team competed at Rim Rock with the boys finishing 12th overall with 340 total points, and the girls finishing 11th overall with 303 total points in a twelve team meet.
Top runners for the men’s side where Thomas LaRoche, freshman, who ran a time of 27:25.4 on the eight kilometer men’s course and placed 78th overall.
On the girl’s side Emily Schoenfeld, sophomore, ran a time of 23:19.7 on the six kilometer course for the girls, leading the Lady Hornets and placing 35th out of 106 runners.
Other notables for the men’s side are Daniel Claassen, sophomore, who ran a time of 27:52.6, James Bowlin, junior ran a 28 flat, and Cody Miller, sophomore, ran behind him with a 28.01.6 time.
For the women, notables include Mercy Perez, freshman, who ran a time of 25:09.1, Taylor Stueve, junior ran 25:14.1, and Kayla Lansing, junior, ran a 26:03.1.
After some delays due to rain, the team also competed at the SBU Bearcat Invite in Bolivar, Missouri last Tuesday where Laroche and Schoenfeld again led the team, placing eighth and 32nd overall. Both men and women placed fourth as a team.
The Hornet’s next race is Nov. 8 in Bolivar for the MIAA Championships.
