The Emporia State football team looks for consecutive victories for the first time this season when they take on Lindenwood this Saturday. The Lions are 1-3, after a victory over Washburn after losing three straight to Pittsburg State, Fort Hays and Missouri Western. The Lions have been outscored 84-23 in their three losses and average only eight points per game, with their most points in a game being nine after a 44 point outburst in week one over Washburn.
The Lions are led by Patrick Ross. Ross is in his 11th season as the head coach in St. Charles, Mo. Ross will be looking for win number 100 as a collegiate head coach, as he enters Saturday’s contest with a record of 99-39. Ross has coached the only NFL draft pick in Lindenwood history as Pierre Desir was taken in the fourth of a seven round draft by the Cleveland Browns in 2013. He became the all-time wins leader at Lindenwood in 2007. Ross has coached nine of the top 10 offenses in school history, the offenses have averaged 35.8 points per game in his tenure and over 40 the last seven seasons.
The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Welch Stadium.
