On the men’s side, the Hornets won four of six singles matches on the men’s side and two of the three doubles matches to defeat the Jets 6-3 for the day. The pair of Patrick Cameron, freshman, and Keenan Smith, junior, both lost their singles matches but bounced back during the doubles to help the men move to 4-0 on the season.
The women split the singles matches 3-3 with Newman but the Jets jumped back during the doubles, to defeat the lady Hornets 5-4 for the night. The women are 1-1 for the season.
The Hornets, both men and women play again Saturday where they host the Truman State Bulldogs at the Emporia High School tennis courts.
