Emporia State associate professor Howard Pitler, 72, was arrested and charged with electronic solicitation of a child under 14 Wednesday in Overland Park.
Pitler, who is an associate professor in The Teacher’s College and taught courses fully online at the Master’s level, is said to have allegedly committed the crime in February 2023 according to court documents
“Upon being made aware of the arrest of Howard Pitler, the university responded immediately and placed Pitler on administrative leave,” Gwen Larson, director of media relations and internal communication, said.
Larson indicated the University cannot comment further on an ongoing investigation.
