Emporia State opened their season against Cameron on Tuesday, winning their 19th straight home opener, 86-50.
Cameron scored the first field goal of the game. The Aggies did not score another field goal until 7:06 left in the second quarter as Emporia raised the score 29-4. The Hornets kept the lead going into the half, 43-23.
Brandi Leal hit a three pointer for Cameron, and Emporia answered with a three by Addie Lackey, sophomore guard.
The fourth period started off with a score from Kelly Moten, junior guard. Shelby Baker, freshman forward, advanced the score 69-38 with an assist from Tiana Moala, freshman forward and center.
Baker hit two more shots, allowing the Hornets to gain the lead 82-48. An assist from Baker to Moala finished the game.
Moten led Emporia State with 18 points, followed by Sandra Ngoie, senior forward, with 12 points, Kelsey Barnwell, senior guard, had 11 points and Jacee Kramer, sophomore guard, had a total of ten off the bench.
The Lady Hornets host University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
