I’m sure you’ve heard of the Netflix series “Orange is the New Black,” because who hasn’t? Although this show is very popular and the title is catchy, I completely disagree with the phrase “orange being the new black” in a fashion sense. Black is, was, and will always be the new black. No color will ever top this amazing neutral.
I have always been a clean freak who loves to organize. This is easy to tell as soon as you step in my bedroom. My closet always has to be color coordinated, which helps me quickly find what I want to wear. The only bad thing about this is that it is easy to see how much black clothing I have. Two thirds of my closet consists of black clothes. I love it, to say the least. I gravitate towards anything that is black while I’m shopping because I know how easy it is to work with and it always makes a cute outfit.
Growing up, I always thought all black clothes gave off a dark, emo vibe. I was hesitant to wear a whole lot of black. My opinions have completely changed. Although most of my outfits aren’t all black, I will have an occasional all black outfit. This is popular in today’s fashion and it is easy to do. Find a nice pair of black skinny jeans, find a cute black top, get some cute booties and you have the perfect outfit. I love adding a pop of color with jewelry or a scarf.
Even when an outfit isn’t all black, black is a nice color to add as part of your outfit. It’s well known that black is a slimming color, and who doesn’t want that!? Black outfits are high fashion and low effort. You don’t have to worry about finding colors and prints that match when you keep it simple with black.
Winter is quickly approaching and it is starting to get chilly outside. This time of year calls for dark colors, so pull out those black items in your closet and remember that all black everything is an easy, fashionable way to dress.
