The Emporia State Softball Hornets took a hard fall this Saturday, March 2 as they took on Central Oklahoma at Trusler Sports Complex. They played a double header in which they lost game one, 2-4 and also fell the second game, 2-6.
The first of the two games was played against Central Oklahoma. The two teams were fairly evenly matched on offense and defense as there were no runs until the fourth inning in which the Hornets and Bronchos each scored one run. Central Oklahoma took the lead in the fifth inning as they scored a second run making the score, 2-1, Bronchos. The Hornets answered, scoring a run in the sixth inning, tying the score until the seventh inning in which Central Oklahoma scored two more runs to win the first game, 2-4.
The second game of the double header was also played against Central Oklahoma. The Bronchos got off to a good start, scoring a run in the first inning and scoring three more in the third caused a four inning drought for the Hornets. The fifth inning broke the drought as the Hornets scored two runs along with the Bronchos who also scored two runs that inning. The Bronchos also scored one final run in the sixth inning to conclude the game, 2-6.
The Lady Hornets will continue their non-conference season as they will be back in action in Claremore, Oklahoma on March 6. They will take on Rogers State University.
