Scooter’s Coffee will open for business on New Year’s Eve in Emporia, and will have an official opening later in January. The store will be located at 1700 N. Industrial, in the Flint Hills Mall parking lot.

“It’s just going to be a drive-thru store,” said Jordyn Spainhower, manager of Emporia Scooter’s Coffee.

The store will open at 5:30 a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m., according to Spainhower. On the weekends they might close earlier, around 8 p.m.

Scooter’s Coffee has shops in both Kansas City and Wichita.

“I worked in Augusta Scooter’s Coffee during summers a couple years before,” said Victoria Goetzinger, junior sociology major. “I worked with Jordyn…Scooter’s is a really friendly and family style coffee shop.”

On the official opening day in January, Scooter’s Coffee will give out gift cards, t-shirts, mugs.

“Hopefully we can bring good customer service,” Spainhower said. “We also hope to be a part of community…and adding a really nice stop for people in Emporia. I hope people will be willing to come and shop, and like what we have to offer.”

Scooter’s Coffee is looking for 10 to 12 people for a part-time job.

“I think it is a good option as far as price,” said Jenna Pennington, junior elementary education major. “It’s drive-thru which is nice, so you don’t need to go in and it’s quick.”
