The Emporia State softball team earned a victory over the weekend, with a split in a double header with Lincoln on Saturday in Jefferson City, Missouri.
The split pushed the Lady Hornets record to 11-8 (3-1.)
The Lady Hornets won their first game
10-0.
The game lasted five innings.
ESU batted 16-27 in the first game, a .592 average.
ESU’s pitcher, Eryn Stockman, junior, allowed only three hits in the complete game shutout.
Three Lady Hornets had multi runs batted in games.
Danielle Sprinkle, sophomore outfielder, and Sarah Glass, junior infielder, had three RBI each. Sprinkle, first-baseman, went 3-4 in the game.
The Lady Hornets fell, 13-12, in the second game. ESU struggled with control as they allowed seven base-on-balls in the seventh inning game.
Holly Hinkle, sophomore pitcher, allowed eight earned runs on six hits and allowed five of the seven walks.
The Lady Hornets ended the game with a .472 batting average, despite the loss.
ESU needed two runs in the top of the seventh, but was only able to score one.
The Lady Hornets will play Washburn for the Lady Hornets home opener March 11 at Trusler Sports Complex.
