Welcome back Emporia State students! I hope you had as great of a winter break as I did! I have been questioning what my first blog back should be about, but I decided on talking about one of my favorite gifts from Christmas–scarves!
During the winter, especially on break, I tend to dress in comfy, big clothing. If you’re not careful, this can end up looking like you are playing dress up in your dad’s clothes rather than having that oversized chic look you’re hoping for.
There are two keys to keeping your look pulled together. The first is the 1:1 rule. If you have an oversized top, keep your bottoms fitted. If your bottoms are oversized, keep your top fitted. It is always important to emphasize one part of your body. When you try to make everything baggy, it starts looking really sloppy. My favorite things to wear are leggings with a large sweatshirt or leggings with an oversized sweater. If you can’t tell, leggings are my staple item in the winter.
The second key of keeping this baggy look cute is pairing it with a scarf. A chunky scarf immediately spices up your look. I always feel like I need to have some sort of jewelry on with my outfits. Scarves are the comfiest type of accessory, plus they keep you warm on those cold winter days! I love to pair my chunky beige scarf with my boyfriend’s grey crew sweatshirt and a pair of leggings.
Although scarves are my favorite to wear with comfy outfits, they can be worn with almost any outfit. I usually pass up necklaces in the winter and pair each outfit with a scarf. I think every closet needs a chunky beige, grey, and black scarf. It’s also fun to throw in a few funky scarves. Plaid scarves are really in right now. Pair a plaid scarf with a belt on the top of it and you will be looking super trendy! All in all, everyone needs scarves, so if you don’t have one, go get one!
