After scoring three second-half goals, Emporia State soccer won 5-2 against Fort Hays on Sunday.
The Hornets started scoring immediately into the game as sophomore forward Megan Kephart scored in the fifth minute after receiving an assist from freshman midfielder Ella Favot.

Up until the 40th minute, ESU held their lead before the Tigers earned a goal to tie the match. Sophomore midfielder Hailey Gancarz scored in the final minute of the first half, but the Tigers scored again just seconds after. Both teams went into the break tied 2-2.
Just three minutes into the second half, sophomore forward Avery Zimmerman scored another goal for the Hornets. The Hornets did not lose momentum for the rest of the match, scoring two more goals in the last 12 minutes. Plays by Favot and freshman midfielder Sammy Quiroz helped ESU take the victory.
The Hornets will head to Pittsburg on Friday to face off against the Pittsburg State Gorillas. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
