TOPEKA — Twenty-three individuals were confirmed as members on the presidential search committee during the February Kansas Board of Regents meeting. Of the 22, seven are faculty and staff, three are students, 10 are alumni and community members, and two are regents.
“The next step is for the chair, Greg Kossover, to schedule a time for the committee to get together and to begin the process of identifying the important characteristics or traits,” said Cynthia Lane, regent. “That will formulate the publication of the posting of the job and the whole profile of the next president.”
Now that the committee members have been selected, the chair, Greg Kossover, will set a meeting where the committee will discuss the leadership profile, and how they plan to collect feedback from the campus.
The committee will also have two regents—Blake Flanders, KBOR president, and Cynthia Lane.
In addition to approving its members, the Regents also approved an official charge of the committee.
The charge asks the committee to do two main things: Build a leadership profile for the ideal president, and recommend an unranked list of four to five of the best candidates for the position.
“The Board asks the committee,” the charge said, “to consider inclusion of strong demonstrated skills in attracting and retaining students including those from populations historically underserved by higher education, leadership and decision making, innovation, fundraising and financial stewardship, economic and job growth collaborations, consensus building, change management, relationship building, talent development, recruitment of diverse talent and execution of a strategic plan.”
