A virtual Town Hall meeting will be held Monday to discuss the future of Emporia State in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. In an email Thursday, President Allison Garrett also announced that in-person classes will resume this fall.

“Despite our hopes and planning for a face-to-face fall, we are also planning for other scenarios because we must be ready for whatever COVID-19 throws our way,” said Garrett in an email sent Thursday. “…When we do return to campus, it will be with additional safety measures like wearing masks, continued social distancing, sanitizing, cleaning and sanitizing some more.

Some classes may return to in-person sessions beginning as early as the second summer session, according to Garrett in the Thursday email. 

The Town Hall will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday on Zoom. Anyone is welcome to join, but must register ahead of time through this link: https://www.hornet.digital/events. Questions to administration can be submitted ahead of time through that link. Questions may also be asked during the Town Hall.

For those who cannot attend, a recording of the meeting will be posted online, according to Gwen Larson, director of media relations.

Depending on the outcome of this initial Town Hall, ESU may hold more on different topics with different administrators, Larson said in an email.
