The Emporia Police Department has released more details in the disappearance of 28-year-old Rebecca Rauber, who went missing after leaving the Town Royal bar late Friday night.
Rauber left Town Royal, located at 405 Commercial St., around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 23 without her personal belongings, including her phone, purse and jacket. Video surveillance cameras from local businesses captured Rauber on foot walking westbound on Fifth Avenue. Cameras from a local residence later show Rauber walking north on Neosho Street from West Fifth Avenue around 11:37 p.m., police said in a release.
She did not appear to cross Sixth Avenue at the Neosho intersection. Parts of Neosho from W First Avenue to W Fifth Avenue are undergoing construction for the city’s water main service line project.
Residents and businesses within a four-block radius of West Fifth Avenue and Neosho are asked to check video surveillance cameras between 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 23 and the early morning hours of Jan. 24 for footage of Rauber. Residents who live on Neosho from West 5th Avenue to West 15th Avenue are also asked to check cameras and outside their homes for any signs Rauber may have been in the area.
Police ask that residents remain off the streets in the Neosho and nearby search area as they conduct a bloodhound K9 search.
“At this time, every available resource within the Emporia Police Department is dedicated to finding Rebecca,” police said. “Officers have been actively deployed in search teams, conducting investigative interviews, and reviewing potential video footage since the time she was reported missing, due to the elements that night.”
Rauber is 5 feet 8 inches and weighs approximately 160 pounds. She has long brown hair with blond highlights and brown eyes. She may have been wearing a black flannel top with a white undershirt with a unknown front pattern or a Wichita State sweatshirt. She was also seen wearing dark jeans or pants and black shoes.
Those with information are asked to contact the Emporia Police Department at 620-341-3350. Anonymous reports can be provided through Lyon County Crime Stoppers at 620-342-2273 or online through P3 Tips.
