Hornets Fall to #36 Harding 6–1

The Hornet men’s tennis team was defeated by #36 Harding 6-1 on Saturday, March 7 at the Kossover Family Tennis Center.

Harding earned a 6-3 win to start the dual at #2 doubles before sophomore Luke West and graduate student Anton Sarunic matched it with a 6-2 win at the #1 spot. Taking the doubles point, the Bison won 7-5 with Sebastian DeLasSalas and Luis Agullo over the Hornets sophomore Roko Kacer and graduate student Gwendel Mazuay at #3.

Harding claimed the dual win after taking the first three singles matches in straight sets. Junior Diego Calvo pushed the match to three sets before falling 6–1, 3–6, 6–3 to DeLasSalas at #2 singles, giving Harding a 5–0 lead. The Bisons claimed #5 singles before Kacer earned a win by retirement at #6, leading 6–2, 4–0.

The Emporia State men will compete in Arkansas next week against Ouachita Baptist on Wednesday, March 11 and Southern Arkansas on Thursday, March 12.
