Liam Kampsen, junior graphic design major and convergence editor for The Bulletin, placed third overall in the Editorial Cartoon category of the College Media Association’s Pinnacle Awards this year. Kampsen competed nationally against other cartoonists.
“CMA’s Pinnacle Awards honor the best college media organizations and individual work,” according to the CMA website. “The contest is open to student work produced for any college media organization, including print, broadcast and and online outlets, during an academic year.”
Kampsen created the winning cartoon last year when he worked for The Bulletin as a full time cartoonist. Kampsen competed against students from larger schools, with first and second place in the same category going to Northwestern State University and Ball State University respectively.
“I was wondering what I would have done if I hadn’t received this award, but I guess we’ll never know.” Kampsen said.
