In December, I shared that The Bulletin would not publish regular, bimonthly print editions during the spring semester, a decision that was made due to a rise in print production costs.
In light of this news, The Bulletin started a fundraiser to be put toward website hosting costs and equipment for our day-to-day operations.
You, our dear readers, responded in a way that we could have never imagined.
In an outpour of support, you donated a whopping $510 to our publication. Needless to say, we not only met our $500 goal, but exceeded it.
Grateful does not even begin to describe how I feel. My low expectations were pleasantly challenged by your holiday generosity. Myself and all of the Bulletin staff cannot thank you enough for showing up for us.
As the semester kicks off, I strongly encourage you to follow The Bulletin on Instagram and Facebook as we grow our online presence. Most importantly, I ask that you subscribe to our digital newsletter. This will publish weekly on Wednesday at 10 a.m. – not Monday, as previously stated – to ensure proper timeliness and newsworthiness in our newsletter content.
No one wants a newsletter full of just last week’s news!
Instead of starting the week with all the news you missed, enjoy a mid-week mash up of all the news you need to know and ICYMIs right in your inbox. Our first newsletter drops January 26.
As always, you can stay up-to-date with our reporting and all the happenings at Emporia State online at esubulletin.com.
I am most excited to announce that, as I had hoped for in a previous newsletter, we can comfortably produce a sliver of special print editions to supplement our digital reporting endeavors, thanks to you. In fact, we will publish not two but three special print issues.
While that number is nowhere near the seven issues we planned for in the fall, I am pleased that we can provide these few editions to our on-campus readers and community members.
I always say The Bulletin is my “baby,” and cutting regular print production for the remainder of the year was one of the toughest decisions I have made as editor. I look forward to enhancing our newsletter, growing our website and bringing you those special print editions later this semester in my last few months as editor-in-chief.
Thank you for making this newspaper your baby too, and caring enough to see us continue the important work we do here.
