Welcome to Emporia State!
We are excited to have you join our campus and close out the 2025-26 academic year with us.
As we’re sure you are aware, our campus has been through a lot over the past four years. From an academic restructuring that deeply rocked students, faculty, staff and the campus community, multiple dean searches and now the retirement of a former president and ushering in of the new, we haven’t quite yet had the semblance of calm and normalcy many of us crave.
Amid all the chaos, The Bulletin has remained dedicated to this campus. Each day we seek to serve the very people who have entrusted us to report the truth. We care deeply about reporting on the issues that are important, that matter and that deeply affect all of those who call ESU home. As journalists, we know our duty lies in serving the people and we take that calling very seriously.
During your tenure as president, we hope you come to see the value this newspaper brings to all those at ESU, including yourself as a news consumer. We recognize that previous relationships between The Bulletin and campus administration have been contentious, and the reason for that is a nuanced one. But, we have worked diligently over the past three years to rebuild bridges once burned and demonstrate the importance professional relationships between student journalists and campus administrators have in reporting truth.
As ESU steps into this new chapter, we welcome you to visit our newsroom and learn a little bit more about The Bulletin, the work we’ve done, the work we plan to keep doing, and why it matters. Nothing would make us happier than to share a piece of our heart with you.
We look forward to serving you and your family with the latest campus news as part of our beloved audience. But as our president, we also hope to build a bridge with you, close the gap, and develop a working relationship that will benefit the future of truth and accountability for ESU.
